Master in Istituzioni e Politiche Europee (MIPE)

Based on the knowledge that economic and territorial development is founded on adequate institutional capability, the MIPE degree programme is intended to foster European culture in Italy, satisfy the strong demand for training in international and European studies, and strengthen Italy’s presence in international and European organisations by making it part of the strategy of reform of European Governance - a strategy which foresees a multilevel structure covering entities ranging from the municipalities to the Union itself - and of the regional and national strategies aimed at raising the country's profile abroad and in the management of the process of globalisation. The MIPE, in light of the current processes of enlargement, wishes to attract students from the countries of Central  and Eastern Europe and the Balkans that are currently undergoing transition.

The programme is intended to provide, through interdisciplinary training in the juridical, economic, politological, social and historical sectors, the advanced knowledge, methodological as well as cultural and professional, required to be able to evaluate and manage the issues dealt with in the public and private sectors of modern society, with particular reference to European integration and the transition towards the new Europe. The programme is also intended to provide methodological knowledge in empirical politological, sociological, statistical, economic and quantitative research, as well as in comparative methods, particularly in the juridical disciplines, which will allow graduates to obtain operative and innovative positions in either the public or private sector.

Within the programme, an interdisciplinary seminar on the European Constitution was held at the Centre for Studies on Federalism on July 1st 2005.
